Onc e you have signed up for smeMetrics you will need to configure your account settings so that your account is set up accourding to your needs

In this article I will cover your business settings and configuration as this is the information that will appear on your invoices.

Business Info :: 


This section covers your company name , practice address, contact details and Company tax information. what you fill in here will appear on the top righthand side of your invoices.


Professional Info :: 

This is your medical infomation and will also appear on the top right hand side of your invoices, for invoices to be paid by medical aid schemes you need to ensure that your practice number is listed. As a security feature on smeMetrics you cannot generate an invoice if this section is not filled in.

  • Medical Qualification 
  • HPSCA Number
  • Practice Number


Medical Aid Claim Preference :: 


This section lets the system know how you want to submit claims to the medical aid schemes, you have two options 

  1. Submit via email :: This will send the claims to the scheme's via email (paper claims), there is no cost to send via email. 
  2. Submit via EDI :: This will send the claims to the scheme via Electronic Data Interchange, EDI claims are billed at R 4.50 per claim date. Please refer to the link here to see how to submit via EDI. 


Invoice Defaults :: 


This section allows you to set your default BHF code or description for your invoices should you not use invoice templates 


For Example :: 


  • Occupational Therapists might set it to :: 66313 On level 3 (45 mins)
  • Speech Therapists might set it to :: 821052


This section also allows you to add your private/cash rates to the system. smeMetrics defaults to the Discovery Health rates in this section.


To add your private/cash rates to the system, follow the below steps.

  1. Click on the Yellow block next to the code you wish to add a rate to. 
  2. Enter the rate that you charge then press the "enter" key on your keyboard to lock in the change
  3. Once you have entered all your rates scroll to the bottom of the section anc click on the save button to save your rates.
